Find the Right Collingwood Parking Before You Start Exploring
Parking in Collingwood changes depending on where you are going. Downtown streets and municipal lots use one price structure, while waterfront parks use higher seasonal visitor rates. In addition, some waterfront spaces are reserved for residents. Therefore, this guide helps you choose a legal parking area before you reach downtown, Sunset Point, Princeton Shores, Millennium Park, or the harbour.
PER HOUR
Quick Answer: Where Should Visitors Park in Collingwood?
For a short downtown shopping trip, Hurontario Street is convenient. The current rate is $1.50 per hour, and a three-hour maximum applies. Therefore, it works best when you know your visit will be fairly short.
For a meal, several appointments, or a longer downtown visit, a municipal lot can be more flexible. The current rate is $1 per hour, and the Town’s downtown rate page lists no maximum for municipal lot parking. In addition, downtown parking is free on weekends.
However, waterfront parking is different. Visitors currently pay $10 per hour, up to a $50 daily maximum, during the seasonal paid-parking period. Moreover, some spaces at Sunset Point and Princeton Shores are reserved for Collingwood residents.
Finally, Harbour House at 31 Huron Street provides covered public parking close to downtown and the waterfront. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and occasional visitors can currently pay the normal $1-per-hour downtown lot rate through HotSpot.
Best Parking Near Popular Collingwood Attractions
Start with your destination and then choose the parking type. This simple approach can prevent you from paying waterfront rates for a downtown visit. In addition, it reduces the risk of entering a resident-only parking area by mistake.
Hurontario Street Shops
Hurontario Street parking is useful for cafés, shopping, pickup orders, and short appointments. However, the three-hour maximum matters. Therefore, choose a municipal lot if your downtown visit may run longer.
Downtown Restaurants
A municipal lot is often easier for a relaxed meal because the Town lists no maximum for its standard municipal lot rate. In addition, several downtown destinations are within a comfortable walk after you park.
Sunset Point Park
Visitors can use authorized paid waterfront spaces. However, the angled spaces beside the playground are reserved for residents with valid permits. Therefore, read the signs carefully before paying.
Princeton Shores
Visitors can use authorized paid on-street parking along Princeton Shores Boulevard. In contrast, the lot beside the tennis courts is reserved for Collingwood residents with valid permits.
Millennium Park
Look for authorized spaces along Heritage Drive, the gravel lot near the grain elevators, and permitted outer cul-de-sac spaces. Most importantly, follow waterfront signs during the seasonal paid period.
Harbour House
Harbour House at 31 Huron Street offers covered underground public parking near downtown and the waterfront. Moreover, the facility is open 24/7. Occasional visitors currently pay $1 per hour through HotSpot.
Collingwood Visitor Parking Rates for 2026
Collingwood parking becomes much easier to understand when downtown and waterfront rates are separated. Downtown rates are relatively low. However, seasonal waterfront parking costs considerably more.
Therefore, check which parking system applies before starting a HotSpot session. Otherwise, choosing a space based only on distance can cost more than expected.
| Parking | Rate | Paid Hours | Best For |

Downtown Collingwood Parking for Shops and Restaurants
Paid downtown parking normally applies Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.. However, parking is free on weekends and on the holidays and observances listed by the Town.
Hurontario Street costs $1.50 per hour and has a three-hour maximum. Therefore, it is best for a predictable short visit rather than an open-ended afternoon downtown.
In comparison, metered side streets and municipal lots cost $1 per hour. The Town currently lists no maximum for these standard municipal lot spaces. As a result, they are often more practical for dining, events, or several downtown stops.
Harbour House Parking at 31 Huron Street
Harbour House adds a useful covered option close to downtown shops, restaurants, Dry Dock Junction Park, and the waterfront. Moreover, the underground public parking facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Occasional visitors can currently pay the normal municipal lot rate of $1 per hour through HotSpot. Therefore, it can be a practical alternative when you want covered parking or when central street spaces are busy.
The Town also introduced a temporary $10 plus tax monthly Harbour House permit for August and September 2026. However, that temporary offer is scheduled to end on September 30, 2026. Therefore, do not assume the special monthly price will continue after that date.
Waterfront Parking Near Sunset Point and the Harbour
Waterfront parking follows a separate seasonal system. In 2026, paid visitor parking runs from May 15 through October 12 at designated waterfront locations. Therefore, weekend visitors still need to pay during the waterfront season unless a valid permit or exemption applies.
The current visitor rate is $10 per hour, with a $50 daily maximum. Most waterfront areas use paid hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Meanwhile, Collingwood Harbour uses the longer 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. window.
Waterfront Parking Permits for Residents and Visitors
Collingwood residents can register for up to two free digital waterfront parking permits per eligible property or household. However, registration is required each season. Therefore, being a resident does not by itself replace the digital permit.
Non-residents can purchase a seasonal waterfront permit for $125. In addition, the permit can be purchased through HotSpot or in person through the Town’s listed service locations.
A resident or non-resident permit can be used in authorized areas at Sunset Point, Princeton Shores, Millennium Park, and the Harbour. However, the 30 angled spaces beside the Sunset Point playground and the Princeton Shores tennis-court lot remain resident-only areas.
Accessible Parking for Collingwood Visitors
Vehicles displaying a valid Accessible Parking Permit or Disabled Person Parking Permit can park free in municipal paid parking locations. However, posted time limits still apply.
Therefore, a valid permit does not turn a three-hour space into unlimited parking. In addition, it does not override resident-only restrictions, safety rules, or other posted conditions.
Vehicles displaying a valid Ontario veteran licence plate also receive free parking in municipal paid parking locations. Again, any applicable time limit still needs to be followed.
How to Pay for Collingwood Parking
The Town uses HotSpot for many parking sessions and digital permits. In addition, waterfront areas may offer meters or official QR and NFC payment options.
Before paying, read the parking sign first. Then, confirm the location, zone, licence plate, parking duration, and any maximum stay. This order matters because a successful payment does not override an illegal space.
Winter Overnight Parking in Collingwood
Winter parking rules changed for the current season. Street parking is prohibited from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. between November 1 and March 31. Previously, the seasonal restriction began later. Therefore, returning visitors should not rely on an older December start date.
Vehicles left on Town roadways during the prohibited period may be removed, and the owner may be responsible for removal costs. As a result, leaving a car on the street overnight during this period can become much more expensive than arranging legal parking.
However, overnight parking may be permitted in downtown municipal lots when the vehicle has a valid digital Overnight Parking Permit issued by the Town. The permit is currently free.
Outside the November 1 to March 31 period, an overnight permit is not required for downtown municipal lots. Nevertheless, posted restrictions and other parking rules still apply.
