Choose Your PHX Parking Route Before You Enter Terminal Traffic

The best Phoenix Sky Harbor parking choice depends on more than price. Compare walking distance, covered parking, Sky Train access, luggage, arrival time and your vehicle height before committing to a lot.

Save one preferred parking facility and one backup before leaving home. If PHX is busy, choosing the second-best lot immediately can be smarter than circling for the cheapest space.

East Economy: The Most Flexible Budget Parking Area

Uncovered — $16/day

The lower-cost standard East Economy option. Best when direct desert sun is acceptable.

Garages A/B — $19/day

Covered economy parking for only $3 more per day than uncovered East Economy.

Sky Train access

Take the free PHX Sky Train to Terminal 3 or Terminal 4.

Parked far from the station?

A free circulator operates 24/7 through East Economy’s uncovered parking area and carries travelers to the PHX Sky Train station.

Do not forget where the car is: scan the QR code displayed at East Economy shuttle stops to receive a text or email reminder of your parking location.

West Economy: Useful Only if the Walk Works for You

West Economy Garage — $19/day

Covered parking with approximately a 12-minute walk to Terminal 3.

No parking shuttle operates from this garage. Travelers with heavy luggage, small children or mobility limitations should factor the walk into the decision.

West Economy Park & Walk — $10/day

Seasonal parking with approximately a 15-minute walk to Terminal 3 and no shuttle.

Do not budget around $10/day until you verify the lot is open. It is seasonal, not a guaranteed year-round parking option.

24th Street Economy: $16 Parking Without Driving Deep Into PHX

Daily price

$16 drive-up daily maximum.

Parking capacity

The Sky Train station is adjacent to roughly 1,600 parking spaces.

Terminal transfer

Board the free PHX Sky Train for Terminal 3 or Terminal 4.

Local traffic strategy: drivers approaching from west Phoenix may find 24th Street easier than continuing into the airport’s terminal road system.

PHX Sky Train: Daytime and Overnight Timing

The PHX Sky Train connects 44th Street/Washington, East Economy, Terminal 3, Terminal 4, 24th Street and the Rental Car Center.

Cost

Free.

5 a.m.–10 p.m.

Average published wait is approximately 3½–7 minutes.

10 p.m.–5 a.m.

Overnight maintenance can produce waits of 15 minutes or more and possible train transfers.

Late-night traveler: do not build your schedule around the daytime train frequency. Add an extra transfer buffer after 10 p.m.

44th Street overnight backup

PHX currently stages additional buses at the south side of the 44th Street Sky Train station from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while the train continues operating during nightly maintenance.

2026 Early Bag Check Can Make East Economy Much Easier

Eligible domestic travelers can hand over checked luggage at East Economy before parking, reducing the bags they need to move onto the Sky Train and through the terminal.

Drive into East Economy. Follow airport signage to Early Bag Check before completing your parking process.
Verify your airline. Current participating domestic airlines are Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and United.
Use the service between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. It operates daily, including holidays.
Meet the baggage window. Bags must be accepted at least 90 minutes and no more than four hours before scheduled departure.
Continue to your parking space. Then travel lighter on the PHX Sky Train.

The service itself has no additional charge, but normal airline baggage fees still apply. International trips, car seats and sporting equipment require normal airline-counter handling.

How PHX Parking Reservations Actually Work

Book from two hours to six months before arrival. During holidays, waiting until the day of travel can reduce your choices.
Select the exact facility. Your reservation is valid only for the lot or garage you purchased.
Save the QR code. Scan it at both entry and exit.
Do not arrive more than two hours early. The reservation gate may not allow entry.
Expect extra charges if you leave late. Additional time is billed at the posted facility rate.
Cancel or amend before the deadline. Standard flexible bookings can generally be changed until one hour before entry.

$2 booking fee: PHX applies a $2 reservation booking fee. It is normally non-refundable when a reservation is cancelled.

Forgot the reservation QR code?

Use Manage My Reservation to resend the confirmation. If you accidentally pull a normal parking ticket, keep it and speak with an open cashier booth when exiting with your reservation details ready.

How to Pay for Phoenix Airport Parking

Visa

Accepted.

Mastercard

Accepted.

AmEx / Discover

Accepted.

Apple Pay

Not currently listed as accepted for parking.

Drive-up parking can be paid at the exit gate by cash or card, or at Pay on Foot machines when you return from your flight.

Terminal 3 Level 1 cash user: there are no staffed cashier booths on that level. Cash payments must be made at available Pay on Foot machines before returning to the vehicle.

Where to Wait Free When Picking Someone Up at PHX

Phoenix Sky Harbor provides three free 24-hour Cell Phone Waiting Lots. The driver must remain with the vehicle.

East Cell Phone Lot

About 90 spaces, real-time flight information and a portable restroom.

West Cell Phone Lot

About 90 spaces west of West Economy Garage with flight information.

44th Street Station

About 25 waiting spaces with restrooms inside the Sky Train station.

Wait until the traveler is actually curb-ready. PHX asks drivers to limit Cell Phone Lot waits to about 30 minutes and prohibits unattended vehicles.

Skip terminal traffic entirely

A passenger can also use the free PHX Sky Train to 24th Street or 44th Street and meet you there, which can be easier during heavy event or holiday traffic.

Accessible Parking at PHX: Closest Routes and Important Limits

Accessible parking is available throughout PHX airport parking, including terminal garages, East Economy and designated over-height areas.

Closest terminal access

Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 attached garages generally provide the shortest parking-to-terminal route.

Lower-cost accessible option

East Economy has accessible spaces near the Sky Train station and accessible spaces inside its garages.

Need help taking a ticket?

Call 602-273-4545. PHX says a parking representative can assist, though arrival may take about 5–10 minutes.

Accessible placard

A disability plate or placard allows use of designated accessible spaces but does not make PHX parking free.

PHX Garage Height Limits

Garage Clearance Alternative if taller
Terminal 3 6 ft 10 in Over-height Level 1 arrangements or parking office guidance
Terminal 4 6 ft 10 in Oversized parking east of Terminal 4
West Economy 6 ft 10 in Suitable uncovered facility
East Economy 8 ft 2 in East Economy uncovered

Measure the vehicle with roof box, bicycle, cargo carrier, ladder rack and antennas attached—not the manufacturer’s base vehicle height.

Oversized Vehicles, Trailers and Multi-Space Parking

PHX reservation terms define a normal booking vehicle as a car or truck not exceeding 20 feet in length or hauling a trailer. Oversized vehicles may be charged additional parking based on the number of stalls occupied.

Best action before driving: call the PHX Parking Office at 602-273-4545 if your truck, trailer or recreational vehicle will not fit a standard stall or published garage clearance.

Lost Car, Dead Battery or Parking-Gate Problem?

Forgot where you parked

Use a blue emergency call box or call the PHX Parking Hotline.

Dead battery

PHX offers free jump-start assistance through parking customer service.

QR/gate problem

Press the Help button on the entry or exit equipment for immediate parking assistance.

Airport policy says outside commercial tow trucks cannot simply tow a vehicle out of PHX parking facilities. Contact airport parking assistance first.

Phoenix Heat Changes the Covered-vs-Uncovered Decision

$3/day difference

East Economy Garage is currently only $3/day more than East Economy Uncovered.

Five-day trip

Covered economy costs only about $15 more across five full days.

Return-day comfort

Covered parking can reduce direct solar exposure before you reload luggage and passengers.

Practical summer choice: if the difference between uncovered and covered economy is only $3/day, shade can be a better value than upgrading all the way to a $33 terminal garage.

Which Airport Entrance Makes Sense From Your Part of Phoenix?

West / Northwest Valley

I-10 East connects toward Sky Harbor Boulevard. Consider 24th Street parking when you want to use the Sky Train without driving farther into terminal traffic.

East Valley / Tempe

US-60/I-10 or Loop 202/AZ-143 routes naturally approach East Economy and the airport roadway from the east side.

Navigation micro-tip: once you choose your parking product, search the exact lot or garage rather than entering only “Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.”
