Saskatoon Public Parking: Lots, Meters, Apps and Payment Tips

Downtown • Broadway • Riversdale • River Landing • hospital streets

Choose, Pay and Move Between City Spaces Without Losing Your Parking Time

Compare Saskatoon street spaces, nine-hour municipal lots, pay stations, QR payment and the ParkedIn app before confirming a session.

City payment follows the licence plate, but the sign beside each space still controls the maximum stay. Check both before walking away.

Saskatoon Parking Rates, Minimums and Paid Hours

Item 2026 rule What it means
City hourly rate $2.50 per hour Applies only in signed municipal paid zones.
Paid hours 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday–Saturday Payment is not required outside this period.
Station minimum $0.25 for six minutes Useful for a genuinely short errand.
ParkedIn minimum $0.50 for 12 minutes The app minimum costs more than the station minimum.
ParkedIn service fee $0.15 each transaction Repeated extensions create repeated fees.
Standard ticket $35 Review or resolve the ticket promptly.
Unpaid after 14 days $60 Delay can increase the amount owed.

The hourly rate does not set the legal stay. The sign beside the curb or lot controls the maximum time.

Where City Pay Parking Applies in Saskatoon

Downtown
Municipal street spaces and lots serve City Hall, Midtown, TCU Place, offices and central businesses. Private lots can sit directly beside City spaces.
Broadway
Street payment supports restaurants, shops and theatres. Use a longer-stay option when a meal or show may exceed the curb limit.
Riversdale
City street parking and public lots serve 20th Street businesses. Confirm the operator before using zone 1333.
River Landing
Municipal curb spaces, hotel parking and private underground garages can use separate payment systems.
Warehouse District
Check for loading zones, temporary restrictions and private-lot entrances before paying.
Central Industrial
Use City payment only where Pay Parking Zone signage is displayed.
Sutherland
Signed City public paid spaces use Saskatoon’s municipal payment system and zone 1333.
Hospital streets
City payment applies on streets adjacent to St. Paul’s Hospital and Saskatoon City Hospital. Hospital-owned lots may use separate prices and operators.

Four Saskatoon City Lots Allow Up to Nine Hours

The City operates four longer-stay public lots in Downtown and Riversdale. Use the official parking map for current entrances and exact locations.

Onsite stations allow nine hours

Machines inside these lots are programmed to sell up to nine hours in one parking purchase.

ParkedIn allows three hours

The app remains limited to three hours per transaction even when the lot permits nine hours.

Best for workday visits

Use a longer-stay lot for employment, training, medical appointments or several downtown errands.

YMCA-area operator warning

The City lot near Idylwyld Drive and 22nd Street is beside an Impark lot. Confirm the exact lot before paying.

Adjacent does not mean shared payment. City zone 1333 does not validate a vehicle parked in a neighbouring private lot.

How to Pay at a Saskatoon Parking Station

Photograph your licence plate. Enter every letter and number exactly as shown on the parked vehicle.
Read the curb sign first. Confirm that payment is required and note the maximum stay.
Use any working City station. The station does not need to be immediately beside your vehicle.
Enter the plate or permit number. For a temporary permit, follow the machine’s current instructions.
Select the required duration. Stay within the maximum permitted at the parked location.
Review before confirming. Cancel and restart when the plate or duration is wrong.
Save the confirmation. A dashboard receipt is not required, but it can help with reimbursement or a ticket review.

Coin payment

Stations accept supported coins. Use exact change because machines do not calculate or return change.

Older station

Payment features can differ during the upgrade. Follow the methods displayed on that machine.

Upgraded station

New stations support contactless debit or credit, Apple Pay, Google Pay and compatible digital wallets.

Early appointment: payment can be made from 7 a.m. and held so paid time starts at 9 a.m.

Using ParkedIn Zone 1333

Use City zone 1333

Zone 1333 applies to City of Saskatoon public paid-parking locations.

Select the parked vehicle

Saved plates are convenient, but choosing the wrong vehicle creates an invalid session for the car at the curb.

Check the legal maximum

Remote extension is useful only while the sign still permits the vehicle to remain.

Keep digital receipts

Save receipts for employer reimbursement and payment verification.

Three-hour transaction limit

ParkedIn permits only three hours per transaction in a nine-hour City lot.

Confirmed sessions cannot be edited

Start a new correct session when the wrong plate, zone or duration was confirmed.

Do not assume every ParkedIn location is municipal. Check that the onsite sign identifies City of Saskatoon parking.

Pay by QR Code Without Installing an App

Scan only an official station code. Avoid stickers or codes placed on unrelated signs.
Verify the payment page. Confirm that it identifies Saskatoon public parking and the ParkedIn service.
Enter zone 1333. Use it only when the vehicle is in a City public paid space.
Enter the correct plate. Review the province and every character.
Select the legal duration. Do not use mobile payment to exceed a posted limit.
Save the confirmation screen. Take a screenshot when mobile reception may be weak later.

How “Pay Once, Park Anywhere” Works

Move Does remaining time follow? Condition
Downtown to Broadway Yes Both locations must be City public paid spaces.
Riversdale to River Landing Yes Follow the maximum at the new location.
City street to City lot Generally yes while valid Confirm that the lot is municipal.
City space to private lot No The private operator requires separate payment.
Driving between areas Clock continues Parking time does not pause while driving.

Reaching the maximum: move to another block face, such as around the corner or across the street. Moving one or two spaces on the same block is not sufficient.

When Saskatoon City Parking Is Free

Before 9 a.m.

Payment is not required, although early prepayment can be available from 7 a.m.

After 6 p.m.

Municipal meter payment ends, but other signs remain enforceable.

Sundays

Payment is not required in City public pay-parking areas.

Listed statutory holidays

The City waives payment on its published statutory-holiday list.

Easter Monday

It is not included in Saskatoon’s free holiday list, so payment may be required.

Private facilities

Private lots may charge during evenings, Sundays and holidays.

Free payment period does not cancel parking rules. No Parking, No Stopping, loading, accessible and temporary restrictions still apply.

What the 2026 Pay-Station Upgrade Changes

Completion target

The City’s April 2026 update says work is expected to be completed in fall 2026.

Contactless payment

Upgraded stations support debit or credit tap, Apple Pay, Google Pay and compatible digital wallets.

Larger colour screens

New displays are intended to make instructions easier to see and follow.

Temporary removal

Machines may be covered or briefly unavailable during replacement.

Use another method

Pay at the nearest operating station, through ParkedIn or through the official QR option.

Payment still applies

A removed or failed individual station does not automatically create free parking.

Saskatoon Accessible Parking Permit Benefits

Optional City permit

The City permit is a hologram attached to a valid SaskAbilities placard.

Up to four hours free

Eligible permit holders may park without payment for up to four hours in qualifying on-street spaces.

Eligible street locations

Benefits can apply in regular paid street spaces, accessible zones and loading zones.

Lots are excluded

The permit is not valid in City lots, private lots, university, airport or hospital lots.

Annual cost

The current annual permit price is $100 plus GST, with a prorated rate beginning May 1.

Low-income subsidy

Eligible Saskatoon residents may qualify for a 50% permit-price subsidy.

A SaskAbilities placard and City payment permit are not the same document. Check the program requirements before assuming a payment exemption.

Veteran Parking in Saskatoon Pay Zones

Eligible Saskatchewan plate

Veterans displaying an SGI-issued veteran licence plate receive free on-street parking in municipal pay zones.

Time limits continue

The veteran plate does not permit a vehicle to exceed the posted maximum stay.

Parking lots are excluded

The exemption does not apply in public or private off-street lots.

Private property is separate

Hospitals, hotels, malls and commercial operators set their own rules.

Street-Parking Rules That Payment Does Not Override

Maximum-time sign

Move to another block face after reaching the maximum. Do not shift only one or two spaces.

No Parking

The vehicle may stop briefly only where the exact sign and bylaw permit it.

No Stopping

Do not stop the vehicle during the displayed restriction period.

Bus stop or bike lane

A paid session does not authorize parking in either location.

Accessible stall

A valid government-issued placard must be displayed.

Temporary sign

Construction, maintenance, snow clearing and event signs replace the normal curb rule.

Traffic Bylaw 7200 covers pay-station zones, maximum parking times, temporary signs, accessible parking, loading zones, snow routes and enforcement.

Winter and Temporary Parking Restrictions

Snow-route sign

Do not leave the vehicle in a designated route during an active restriction.

Street-maintenance sign

Temporary maintenance signage can require vehicles to be removed before the posted start time.

Covered curb signs

Snow can hide hydrants, curb markings and temporary notices. Walk around the vehicle before leaving.

Check before overnight parking

Review current City service alerts when snow removal or major street work is expected.

Do not rely on yesterday’s rule

A familiar street may become temporarily restricted after signs are installed.

Save the curb location

Photograph the nearest signs and vehicle position when restrictions appear unclear.

Broken Station, Failed App or Wrong Plate

Problem Immediate action Evidence to keep
Station covered or removed Use the nearest operating City station or ParkedIn. Location and time.
Station error Try the official QR option, app or another station. Station number and error photo.
App payment failed Use a working station before leaving the vehicle. Error screenshot and transaction time.
Wrong plate confirmed Immediately start a second session with the correct plate. Both transactions and correct plate.
Wrong zone or operator Purchase correct payment for the actual parking facility. Lot sign, receipts and vehicle location.
System-wide outage Follow only an official City service alert. Alert screenshot and time.

One failed machine is not a system outage. Payment remains required unless the City officially suspends it.

Parking Ticket, Review and Text-Message Scam Help

Wait up to two business days. Tickets issued in obvious error may be cancelled during the City’s initial review.
Search using the ticket number. The online system does not provide a licence-plate search.
Gather payment proof. Keep the station receipt, ParkedIn record, correct plate and photographs.
Contact Customer Service. Discuss the review process before missing payment or court deadlines.
Ignore suspicious payment texts. Saskatoon says it does not demand parking-ticket payment through text messages.
Use the official website directly. Do not open an unknown payment link from a message.

Unpaid-fine warning: since June 1, 2026, the City may refer unpaid fines to its authorized collection agency. City bylaws may also permit vehicle seizure and impoundment.
