SELECT COUNCIL CAR PARKS
*Participating car parks and customer terms apply.
Quick Answer: Where Should You Park?
For most city-centre visits, start with a council car park. Several locations charge £1 for one hour and £5 for up to 24 hours. For example, East Burrows Road uses this tariff.
Visiting Swansea Arena? Compare Copr Bay North and South. North offers the standard council prices. However, South has direct arena access and a higher tariff.
Alternatively, Parc Tawe offers free customer parking. The standard limit is two hours. Some businesses can also register your car for a longer visit.
Swansea City Centre Parking Prices
Several council car parks use a simple pricing scheme. First, one hour costs £1. Next, the charge rises by £1 for each additional hour, up to four hours.
After that, the price reaches £5 for a stay of up to 24 hours. However, this rate does not apply everywhere. For example, Copr Bay South uses a premium tariff.
Up to One Hour
This rate suits short errands. For example, you could collect an order or attend a quick appointment.
Up to Two Hours
Two hours gives you time to shop or enjoy lunch. In addition, you have some room for delays.
Up to Three Hours
Planning several stops? Three hours may suit your trip. However, allow longer for busy appointments.
Up to Four Hours
This period offers more flexibility. For instance, you can combine shopping with lunch and sightseeing.
Up to 24 Hours
Longer visits can still be affordable. At participating sites, a full 24-hour period costs up to £5.
Copr Bay South
This car park offers direct arena access. However, its standard 24-hour charge is £30.
Copr Bay North: New Parking for 2026
Copr Bay North opened on 13 July 2026. It has 628 spaces and an entrance on Albert Row. As a result, drivers now have another large car park near the city centre.
The new facility uses the standard council tariff. Therefore, you can park for up to 24 hours for £5 from Monday to Saturday. Meanwhile, Sunday parking currently costs £2 all day.
The car park also has accessible spaces and EV charging bays. In addition, it provides motorcycle parking.
Free Parking in Swansea City Centre
Unrestricted free parking is limited in central Swansea. However, Parc Tawe offers free parking for customers under its own terms.
The normal limit is two hours. Meanwhile, selected businesses can extend your visit after registering your vehicle.

HOURS Parc Tawe Customers Standard customer parking lasts up to two hours. However, site rules apply.
12H Selected Longer Visits Some outlets can register your car. Therefore, ask staff before exceeding the standard period.
Parc Tawe Free Parking Rules
Parc Tawe serves shops, restaurants and leisure venues. You’ll find it on Quay Parade, Swansea SA1 2AS. Customer parking normally runs from 6am to 10pm.
You can usually park free for two hours. However, some businesses offer longer stays. These include selected restaurants and leisure venues.
How to Extend Your Stay
First, ask your chosen business about extended parking. Next, give staff your vehicle registration. They can then enter your details on an in-store tablet.
Once registered, qualifying customers may stay for up to 12 hours. However, complete the registration correctly before relying on the extension.

Choose Parking for Your Visit
A shopping trip needs a different plan from an arena event. Similarly, rail passengers may prefer parking on the northern side of the centre.
Parking Near Swansea Arena
Copr Bay South offers direct arena access. However, this convenience comes with a higher tariff. Its standard 24-hour charge is £30.
Alternatively, Copr Bay North uses the standard council tariff. Therefore, check both options before leaving home.
During major events, allow extra travel time. Afterwards, many drivers may leave together. As a result, the exit could take longer than usual.
Swansea Park & Ride
Park & Ride lets you leave the car outside central Swansea. You can then finish the journey by bus. The council currently advertises a £1 all-day offer for one car and up to four passengers.
Fabian Way
Fabian Way serves drivers approaching Swansea from the east. In addition, its bus service runs into the city centre from Monday to Saturday.
However, it does not operate on normal Sundays. Therefore, check both the outward and return timetable before choosing this option.
Landore
Landore is another Park & Ride location. However, planned development may affect future access. Check its current status and bus arrangements before travelling.
How to Pay for Swansea Parking
Swansea Council uses different payment systems. Most surface car parks are pay and display. In contrast, the main multi-storeys use pay-on-return arrangements.
Pay and Display
First, choose your parking period. Next, pay using an accepted method. MiPermit is also available at eligible locations.
If your plans change, the app may let you extend an eligible session. As a result, you may not need to return to the payment machine.
Pay on Return
Copr Bay, High Street and Quadrant use pay-on-return systems. When you return, enter your registration at the payment machine. Finally, pay the amount shown before leaving.
If you need a discounted tariff, use the payment machine before heading to the exit barrier. Paying directly at the barrier may not offer every discount.
Blue Badge and Accessible Parking
Several Swansea car parks provide accessible spaces. However, bay numbers and payment rules differ between locations.
For example, East Burrows Road has nine accessible bays. Meanwhile, Copr Bay South lists 21 accessible spaces.
Blue Badge holders may receive reduced charges at some council locations. Nevertheless, displaying a badge does not make every car park free. Check the relevant tariff before parking.
Overnight Parking in Swansea
Several council car parks stay open 24 hours. In addition, longer paid stays are allowed. However, you must pay for the full parking period.
Pay-on-return car parks calculate the charge when you collect your vehicle. Meanwhile, pay-and-display locations require you to keep your parking session valid.
Importantly, overnight parking does not mean overnight camping. Swansea Council does not permit sleeping or camping in vehicles at its car parks.
Plan Your Drive into Swansea
Choose your car park before leaving home. This helps you avoid wrong entrances and unexpected tariffs.
