Quick Answer: Truro Park and Ride in 2026

Truro has two main Park and Ride sites. Langarth serves the western approach near Threemilestone. Meanwhile, Tregurra serves the eastern approach near the A39 and A390.

Both car parks open from 6:30am to 8:30pm, Monday to Saturday. However, the normal service does not operate on Sundays or bank holidays. Therefore, check the calendar before planning a weekend visit.

A standard adult day ticket costs £2.70. In addition, family tickets and discounted multi-day passes are available. Parking itself is currently free during permitted daytime hours if you do not use the bus.

Unlimited P&R Travel

Currently, the operator lists a 60-day activation period for the five-day bundle, 180 days for the 20-day bundle, and 360 days for the 60-day bundle. These limits are particularly important for occasional visitors.

Concessionary bus passes Ordinary concessionary passes are not accepted on Truro Park and Ride. However, a valid PLUSBUS ticket bought with an eligible train ticket is accepted. Therefore, check which ticket you hold before boarding.

Which Site Should You Choose?

Langarth is a natural starting point for many drivers arriving from the western side of Cornwall. In comparison, Tregurra is useful when travelling towards Truro on the A39.

Nevertheless, your destination also matters. For example, someone visiting the hospital may prefer an approach that reduces unnecessary driving across the city.

Both sites use the Park and Ride network You do not need a separate city-centre parking space when you take the bus. Instead, park at the site that makes the most sense for your journey.

Truro Park and Ride Routes: PR1 and PR1A

The main Park and Ride service links Langarth and Tregurra through Truro. Along the way, passengers can reach destinations near the hospital, railway station and city centre.

PR1 is the primary route. In addition, PR1A variations serve selected journeys around the college and hospital area. However, individual stops and operating patterns can differ.

PR1 • MAIN SERVICE

Langarth – Truro – Tregurra

PR1 links both Park and Ride sites with central Truro. It also serves important areas near RCH Treliske, the railway station and the museum.

Therefore, it is the route most visitors should check first. However, not every bus follows exactly the same stopping pattern.

PR1A • VARIATION

College and Hospital Journeys

PR1A provides selected services associated with Truro College and the hospital area. Consequently, it can be useful for commuting or appointments.

Nevertheless, check the journey direction and stops before boarding. The precise timetable depends on the operating day.

Useful Destinations Along the Network

HEALTHCARE

Royal Cornwall Hospital

Park and Ride serves the Treliske hospital area. Therefore, it can help visitors avoid parking pressure around the hospital.

EDUCATION

Truro College

The western route passes near the college. In addition, selected service variations improve access at relevant times.

RAIL CONNECTION

Truro Railway Station

Park and Ride connects with the railway station area. As a result, travellers can combine bus and rail journeys.

SHOPPING

Truro City Centre

Stops near the museum and central shopping streets provide access to the city. However, temporary diversions may apply.

PUBLIC SERVICES

County Hall Area

The network serves areas around County Hall. Therefore, commuters and appointment visitors may benefit from the service.

EASTERN ACCESS

Tregurra and Eastern Truro

The route continues towards Tregurra. Consequently, drivers from the eastern approach can leave their cars outside the centre.

Important October 2026 Bus Stop Changes

Current roadworks affect some PR1 stopping arrangements. Therefore, passengers should check service updates before travelling.

Quay Street and Haven House Closure

From 7 September to 6 November 2026, PR1 cannot serve the Quay Street (Haven House) stops in either direction. Instead, buses divert via St Clement Street.

Towards Langarth, passengers should use Victoria Square or the NCP Multi-storey Car Park stop. Meanwhile, towards Tregurra, the operator recommends Truro Museum or the stop opposite the NCP car park.

Temporary Stop at Tregurra

A separate restriction has affected the usual bus lane at Tregurra since 28 September 2026. As a result, PR1 uses a temporary stop inside the Park and Ride car park.

The usual stops along the bus lane and behind Waitrose are unavailable during this arrangement. Therefore, follow local signs when you arrive at Tregurra.

These are temporary service updates The Quay Street diversion is currently scheduled through 6 November 2026. However, Tregurra’s temporary stop remains subject to further notice. Always check the operator’s live page before relying on a particular stop.

Truro Park and Ride Times and Bus Frequency

Truro Park and Ride generally operates Monday to Saturday, excluding bank holidays. However, the timetable varies across the day and by direction.

The current PR1 timetable shows departures from Langarth beginning at 6:45am on a standard weekday. It also lists departures at roughly 15-minute intervals during much of the day, with more frequent services at selected busy times.

What Time Is the Last PR1 Bus?

The published timetable currently lists a 7:10pm departure from Langarth in the direction of Tregurra. However, that is not the final return time from every stop.

Therefore, use the current timetable for your specific destination and return direction. In addition, check whether a diversion changes your preferred boarding point.

Service Detail Typical Information Important Note
Operating Days Monday–Saturday Normally excludes bank holidays
Weekday Langarth Start 6:45am Confirm the chosen travel date
Main Frequency Often around 15 minutes Intervals change at peak and quieter times
Published Langarth Evening Departure 7:10pm Towards Tregurra; not a universal last return
Car Park Closing 8:30pm Vehicles must leave before closing

Where Can You Check the Exact Timetable?

Transport for Cornwall publishes the current PR1 timetable online. Moreover, the operator provides service updates and route maps.

Consequently, its live page is the best place to confirm your exact departure, especially when travelling to an appointment.

Truro Park and Ride Opening Hours

Both Langarth and Tregurra normally open for parking from 6:30am until 8:30pm, Monday to Saturday. However, the gates are locked outside those hours.

MONDAY–SATURDAY

6:30am – 8:30pm

Both locations normally follow these parking hours. Therefore, allow enough time to return before 8:30pm.

SUNDAY & BANK HOLIDAYS

Normally Closed

Standard Park and Ride services do not operate on these days. However, check for any separately advertised special arrangements.

Can You Leave a Car Overnight?

No. Overnight parking is not permitted at either site. Therefore, you should use a different car park for an overnight stay in Truro.

Cornwall Council also lists a special arrangement for qualifying events at the stadium within Langarth Park and Ride. In those circumstances, vehicles attending the event may remain until 11pm.

However, that event provision is not general overnight parking. Instead, check whether it applies to your specific event.

What If the Gate Is Locked?

If you return after the car park has been secured, the council directs drivers to Kestrel Guards. The published telephone number is 01209 313125.

Security can arrange vehicle release, although assistance may take time. Therefore, do not rely on after-hours release as part of your normal journey.

Is Parking Free at Truro Park and Ride?

Yes, with an important condition. Cornwall Council currently states that you may park at either site free of charge during the day without taking the Park and Ride bus.

However, this does not make the bus service free. If you board the bus, you still need a valid ticket unless a stated exemption applies.

In addition, the council’s guidance refers to free parking until 8pm for visitors who do not use the bus. The car parks themselves close at 8:30pm. Therefore, plan to collect your vehicle well before the gate closes.

Free parking does not mean unlimited parking You can currently park without using the bus during permitted daytime hours. Nevertheless, overnight parking remains prohibited. Always follow the signs on site.

How to Buy Truro Park and Ride Tickets

The simplest option for a casual visitor is to pay on the bus. Day and family tickets are available from the driver using cash or contactless debit or credit card.

Alternatively, the Transport for Cornwall app sells Park and Ride products, including multi-day bundles. Some tickets are also available from the site buildings.

Buying a Ticket on the Bus

First, park in a marked bay. Next, walk to the bus stop beside the site building. Then, tell the driver which ticket you need.

After paying, keep your ticket available for the return journey. For example, a day ticket allows repeated travel on the dedicated Park and Ride buses that day.

Buying a Multi-Day Ticket

If you regularly visit Truro, compare the discounted bundles in the Transport for Cornwall app. However, check the activation and expiry conditions first.

Existing eligible tickets bought through the legacy First Bus app remain valid for their stated lifespan. Nevertheless, new customers should follow the operator’s current purchase guidance.

Do not use an unrelated Cornwall bus ticket General Cornwall town-zone and countywide tickets are not automatically valid on Truro Park and Ride. Instead, use a recognised Park and Ride product or valid qualifying PLUSBUS ticket.

How to Use Truro Park and Ride

Using either site is straightforward. However, choosing the right approach and checking your return stop can prevent unnecessary delays.

Step 1: Choose Your Site

First, select Langarth or Tregurra according to your driving route. Langarth is west of Truro, while Tregurra serves the eastern approach.

Step 2: Park in a Marked Bay

Next, follow the signs inside the car park. In addition, save your vehicle’s location so you can find it later.

Step 3: Check the Bus Stop

Then, head towards the site building and designated stop. However, Tregurra currently has a temporary stop arrangement.

Step 4: Buy or Activate Your Ticket

Pay the driver or activate your eligible mobile ticket. Afterwards, keep the ticket accessible for inspection.

Step 5: Confirm Your Return Journey

Before exploring Truro, identify the correct return stop and departure time. Finally, leave enough time to retrieve your car before the gates close.

Therefore, check the suitability of the vehicle and available spaces before travelling.

Who Should Use Truro Park and Ride?

Park and Ride can work well for shopping, commuting and appointments. However, its value depends on when you travel and where you need to go.

SHOPPING

City-Centre Visitors

The main service reaches central Truro. As a result, drivers can avoid searching for a space in busier streets.

HOSPITAL

Patients and Visitors

The network serves Royal Cornwall Hospital. Therefore, it may offer an alternative to hospital parking.

EDUCATION

College Journeys

Services pass near Truro College. However, check the PR1A timetable for any journey-specific variation.

COMMUTERS

Regular Work Trips

Multi-day tickets can lower the effective fare. Consequently, frequent travellers may save compared with single-day purchases.

Park and Ride or City-Centre Parking?

Park and Ride can reduce the cost of travelling into Truro. However, it will not suit every journey.

For example, a short visit outside bus operating hours may be easier with central parking. Meanwhile, regular daytime visits often favour the Park and Ride service.

When Is City Parking Better?

If your plans extend into the evening, the Park and Ride closing time may be restrictive. Therefore, compare council car parks that support longer stays.

Cornwall Council currently lists long-stay options such as Garras Wharf and Edward Street. However, those car parks have their own tariffs and rules.

When Is Park and Ride Better?

The service is especially useful when travelling during normal daytime hours. In addition, the family and multi-day tickets can improve overall value.

Check the overall cost A £2.70 adult day bus ticket may be cheaper than several hours of central parking. Nevertheless, the right option depends on passenger numbers, travel time and your return.

Truro Park and Ride Map: Both Locations
